When someone tells me that they're ready to lose weight and get into really great shape, I get excited. However, the first thought that pops into my head is when they want to start this plan. Almost everybody I have ever spoken with that wants to change their body says the same thing: “On Monday...” Monday, in other words, is not right now. They're saying that they want a major change in their life, but they don't want it bad enough to start working hard for it. "This Monday" inevitably turns into next Monday and then leads to never.
Any success I have ever had is when I acted on something immediately. I did not wait for the right moment. There are exceptions, however, every failure has been due to hesitation or procrastination. In regards to fitness, do not wait. Do not wait for Monday. Do not wait for a better gym. Do not wait for anything because your health is too important to hold off until next week. Every little success builds and the longer you wait the more you lose out on. A little trick I learned on how to act now when I feel procrastination setting in is to ask yourself, what am I going to accomplish by waiting? Your answer will never justify the delay.
